Event Description:

Family Literacy Fun Day is a collaboration between many family-serving organizations in the City of Cambridge. The event is for all Cambridge families and is free. Families can enjoy many literacy-based activities, as well as free lunch and free magic shows! 

What we'll be doing:

Volunteers can help with a variety of tasks. Volunteers can help to run activities and games at different stations, help serve, lunch, help supervise the magic show, help face paint, help at registration, and more!

What you should know:

Family Literacy Fun Day tends to gather together as many as 1000 people, mainly families with children between birth-8 years old. It is a busy day, but we very much appreciate all the help volunteers give and cannot do this event without volunteers. We try to assign volunteers to stations that match with their interest and we also provide a free breakfast and lunch for all volunteers.

The Center for Families:

The Center for Families is a family support program that serves families of children ages 0 to 8 in Cambridge. The program receives support and oversight from the citywide Cambridge 0-8 Council composed of parents, caregivers and service providers. The Center for Families, begun in 1994 as an initiative of the Kids' Council, is a part of the Department of Human Services Childcare and Family Support Services Division. The Center for Families program receives funds from city, state and federal sources for the extension of family support activities to all parts of Cambridge. Many activities and services are offered through collaborations with community-based organizations.
