Event Description:

The Willow Glen 5K Run/Walk is a community event, supported by local and corporate sponsors to benefit programs at local schools. The Annual Willow Glen 5k Run/Walk is a professionally coordinated road race through the downtown Willow Glen, a suburb of San Jose. Last year, 1200 registered racers, from nationally recognized runners to parents pushing jog strollers; the participants enjoyed the cheers from our local community throughout the flat and fast course on the quaint streets of Willow Glen.

New for 2011 include a USATF certified course and timing chips for each racer. This year’s race also invites team racers to compete for The “Race for the Willow Glen Cup,” giving local businesses and groups to compete together. The Willow Glen 5k Run/Walk welcomes racers, families and neighbors for an expanded post-race festival. The fun-filled morning includes a jam-packed kids area, sponsor booths, product samples and a pancake breakfast.

Proceeds from this event will benefit not only Willow Glen Elementary, but other local schools. We're thrilled to announce that any local school may benefit from the Willow Glen 5K Run/Walk. We have created a fundraising platform for other schools by allowing them to simply enter their school on the coupon code field of the registration form and 10% of the registration fee will be donated to that local school.

What we'll be doing:

Volunteers will man various areas of the festival including Children's area, cake walk, etc.

What you should know:

This is an outdoor rain or shine event. We therefore recommend dressing in layers, bringing sunhat, sunscreen and water bottle and wearing comfortable shoes. Snacks and water will be provided.

Willow Glen Elementary PTA:

The Willow Glen PTA is an organization devoted to working for the children and families in our school community. We encourage all parents to join our school branch of this national organization. PTA meetings are held monthly. The PTA supports many school programs and sponsors several school events during the year. Please check the monthly calendars for dates and times of all events.
