Event Description:
The Excelsior Community Food Pantry is a partnership of the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (SFCJL) and the Mission Bay Community Church, in collaboration with the SF-Marin Food Bank and the Excelsior community.
We set up and distribute food to families in need every Saturday morning rain or shine!
What we'll be doing:
One Brick will be helping with set-up, distribution, and clean-up of free groceries to local Excelsior families.
What you should know:
Attire: We operate outdoors, moving large and heavy amounts of food, so please dress accordingly, especially on rainy days. Closed-toe shoes are highly recommended. Food service gloves and hand sanitizer are provided. Restrooms are available to volunteers only.
Mask Policy: Our partner/host site, the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living, is home to many older and/or medically fragile individuals, so their safety is paramount. Volunteers need to wear a mask if they enter the building to use the restroom, and we need to be prepared to mask at the food pantry site if our hosts ask us to do so. We will have masks available if needed.
Parking: If you drive, please park on the street as the SFCJL does not have enough room in their parking lots to accommodate our volunteers. Avoid parking in metered spaces as they are ticketed regularly.
Cantonese speaking volunteers would be highly useful, but not required.
Where to Meet:
You may enter through the driveway on Silver Avenue. Please let the security personnel know you are there to volunteer with the food pantry.
As you are walking up the driveway the volunteer area will be on the left hand side of the driveway. Look for your One Brick Event Manager wearing a bright orange One Brick lanyard.
